July, Where Have You Gone??

I wish I could rewind this month and play it again. It is just whizzing by and we are busier than a one-legged cat in a poopin' contest! School is right around the corner for us and I am not quite ready. I am having an awesomely busy summer full of playdates and short trips. AND, I wouldn't have it any other way. We returned to our hometown today to discover 68 degrees. IN JULY!! This never happens. Global warming my butt.
We went to Reelfoot Lake and spent some time enjoying the sights yesterday and today. The lake is amazing. The natural beauty and abundant wildlife tantalize the senses. The town is so quaint and anti-modern that time did indeed slow down, at least for a day or two. Today we took a river cruise-the short one. I still remember the river cruise I went on when I was a kid-the long one. Now we have an excuse to return.
The rich local history of the lake is almost as fascinating as the way the lake was formed. This is one destination you must be sure to visit. The hotel rates are uber-reasonable. The town is country, the restaurants are super friendly with good food. Ma and Pa businesses are still in existence and they need your tourism dollar. The fishing is legendary and the birdwatching potential is over two pages long. One cautionary note-the mosquitoes are enormous and come out as soon as the sun begins to set...be inside or use repellant...no kidding. We stayed at the Cypress Point Resort and it was so clean!! Plus the manager made us feel like we were long lost relatives in for a visit. I love being treated like that!
I can't wait to go back. I am such a nature nerd.

"global warming my butt"

Tsk Tsk. That is soooo last year!

We don't call it global warming anymore. It's now referred to as climate change. That's so Algore can cover HIS butt.

And as soon as we can stock up on unicorn farts and fairy dust, we won't have to worry about climate change anymore.
