Rush To Post

It is no secret that I like talk radio. That includes my buddy Rush. I really think he is very entertaining and I cling to the notion that people who do not like him have only a) listened to sound bites or advertisements for his show OR b) have never listened to him for an entire show. He is like Howard Stern (before he went off the DEEP end)- a shock jock. He says things for shock value. He is a great thinker and pushes you to look at politics a little deeper. So anyway, all this to say, today on his show he was talking about women. He made the comment that women judge each other harsher than men. He went on to say that women will launch a full judgmental attack even on women they are friends with.

Those words have me pondering this weekend. A LOT. I really struggle with most of the female relationships in my life. I have always had problems with them. I am going to do alot of thinking while I'm cleaning this weekend. I would love to hear what you think and lessons you have learned in this subject.

Not such a huge fan of Rush, that's for sure. Bill Maher on the other hand? Now there's a guy I like.

You and I have a lot in common, don't we?

Plain truth? I think you already know this, but I can't stand Rush. I love talk radio, but I don't like him. I've listened to him many times over the years, full shows. Somestimes I force myself to listen to him now to challenge my own thinking, but I always walk away shaking my head and sticking my finger down my throat. I feel like he often compares apples to oranges when he's trying to compare apples to apples, and many times I hear him support his opinions with downright inaccurate information (He's certainly not alone in that in the media). In the past, I felt as if he made an attempt to be accurate, now I just feel as if he's taking the Andrew Dice Clay approach of saying outlandish things just to get a reaction, any reaction, as his popularity fades. Having said all of that......

I think his comment about women is right on target. We are so hard on each other, especially when it comes to issues such as working moms vs. stay at home moms. We can be your best friend or your worst enemy, sometimes stabbing each other in the back over the least little thing. I find it much easier to work in a business setting with men because they don't interject emtion and drama into the workplace.

Okay, I'll shut up now.

I don't listen to talk radio. I need music! The more I think about the women remark, the more I lean to it being very true. You don't hear guys criticizing another guy for going out and getting drunk on Friday night but come Monday you'd hear about how so and so "left her kids with someone and got totally plastered..." Does make you think.

Bill Maher is a total ass! I would not listen to anything he said ever - if he's on TV just like BO I switch it off!

I love Rush - he speaks the truth it just that most people cannot handle the truth. They want to live in a fantasy.

Women are too hard on each other and mostly too hard on themselves!

Rush does nothing to solve problems...he only creates more disdain for the people who really care about our country and are working hard to fix it. Never does he present an argument that makes sense. He only uses fallacies and name-calling to move his ratings higher. I can always count on Rush to provide the best examples of how not to argue (and I teach them how to de-bunk people who would use his tactics).

Jon
Quit drinking that liberal koolaid. I care for this country and everything I have my husband and I have achieved ourselves. No help from the government! Rush wants everyone to succeed as do I. BO want to create a nanny state where no on will succeed.
