Book Log
I read books, in cycles, all of the time. However, I can't tell you what I have read and often can't remember much about the book either. I don't like this. I want to remember. I want to see just how much I read in a year. I need feedback from all of you organized people. You need only be organized in the book log area to participate.
This dissatisfaction is directly the fault of Sandy and Jason. They both have posted gorgeous and thorough posts about books they have read and a snippet about the books along with a rating!!! This gave me the bright idea that I should also keep track of what I am reading.
So, I have created a spiral notebook book log which I can take with me to the library so I can check out books people have recommended to me and I also made a few pages for the movies people tell me are GREAT. This way I might actually have the information when I need it. I figure I can also write a word or two about what the book is about and rate it.
Tell me internetties...what is your system?? How do you keep track? Also I would love it if you could take time out at this gorgeous time of year and recommend me some summer reading and also some really great movies in my comments. I am begging. Please!

I think it all depends on what you like to read! My favorite "chick classic" of all-time is Jany Eyre - a little romance, a little mystery. It's my favorite.
I just finished reading "The Bourne Identity" - I love the movies, but always felt like I was missing something. I was! Great Robert Ludlum book.
"Desiring God" by John Piper is a great spiritual-need-filler. No fluff here, definitely challenging.
I have a little notebook that I jot down book/movie titles that I run across on the message boards/blogs or word of mouth. Then when I am at the library I look them up. Unfortunately, I would say its usually only a 50/50 chance that our library has the book I'm looking for : (

I use the Library Thing website to keep track of what I've read, and it has a widget to post on my blog. The best chick book I've read lately is "The Secret Life of Bees." I enjoyed it almost as much as "To Kill a Mockingbird." I bet you'd like it too. I second Steph's recommendation about the Bourne Identity- I've been a fan of the entire Bourne trilogy long before Matt Damon was miscast for the role :-). But you have to like the spy thriller type of novel. I need to make a summer reading list too, now that I will have so much time on my hands without co-op - Ha!
I jsut read and reread......I tried to make a list of sorts to keep track of what book I've loaned to who.....but decided it was just one more thing to bog me down and so I dropped it!!!

I'm always hesitant to recommend books, because there is a lot of time invested in reading them. But since you asked.......:)
I have read three books by Emily Giffin.....if you like (secular) romance/real life kind of books, they are very good. (I couldn't put them down.)
1. "Something Borrowed"
2. "Something Blue"
3. "Baby Proof"
Her new one coming out is "Love the One You're With"......I'm cheap though, so I will probably wait till paperback.:)
My husband and I recently watched the movie "The Bucket List." It was very good. And "Evan Almighty" is a family favorite.
Now I'm ready to see all the ones Mia mentioned.
I guess I need to make a notebook as well.

P.S. I've read the Valerie Bertinelli book too....if you're even a tiny bit nosy....you'll tear right through that one....I know I did....She was my favorite T.V. star growing up.:)
I have no system. I just read and sometimes re-read. Popular books that I recommend include: The Memory Keeper's Daughter, Glass Castles and The Atonement. All time favorites include: Standing Under the Rainbow and Welcome to the World Baby Girl by Fannie Flagg and all of Billie Letts' books like Places in the Heart and Welcome to the Honk and Holler Cafe.
I seriously have no system either. It took me quite a while to remember all of the books I've read, and fortunately I have many of them on my shelf still.
